What's a wiki? You're on one!
Wiki is a Hawaiin word that means "fast." It is a fast way to create a website. There are many reasons to like wikis:
Wikis are:
fast
easy
free
collaborative
communicative
Probably the best know wiki is Wikipedia. I like to use them to create pathfinders and for group projects. This video from the Common Craft Show explains it well.
How could you use one in your classroom?
organize your classroom
share student work
direct research
Let's get started! There are several free wikis available, and two of the easiest to use are wikispaces and pbwiki.
Once you register and receive your wiki name you are ready to start adding content.
Adding content to a wiki is very similar to using your word processor. You'll see the editing tool bar, which allows you to adjust the font, color, add links, pictures and gadgets. This is also where your "Save" button is located.
